FAQ

Questions

  • When does the tour operate?

We operate every day of the year, except Christmas Day (25 Dec), New Year’s Eve (31 Dec) and New Year’s Day (1 Jan).

  • Do I need to purchase in advance tickets for attractions such as Sydney Zoo and scenic World?

There is no need to buy tickets for optionals such as Scenic World or Sydney Zoo in advance. You can purchase them on the day of the tour from your guide by cash or credit card. Some packages include Scenic World. Check the booking page for the tour you choose.

  • What is the pick up and drop off time?

We usually pick up guests between 6:45 am and 8:15 am; the exact time depends on your pickup point. Please choose a point from the list when you book, and allow an extra 10 minutes for Sydney traffic. Drop-off by ferry in the city centre is around 6:00 to 6:30 pm. Full times for each stop are on the Pickup locations page.

  • Where is the pick up point?

Choose a scheduled pickup point from the list when you book. If you are coming into the Sydney CBD from the outer suburbs, we recommend the pickup near Central Station (Services NSW, Pitt Street near Rawson Place). You can reach Central by train or bus. See all addresses and times on the Pickup locations page.

  • What is a charter?

A charter is a private group tour for your party, for example a private Blue Mountains day tour from Sydney. We also offer private tours in and around Sydney and Melbourne. Private charters have a stricter cancellation window: a 100% fee applies if cancelled less than 7 days before departure.

  • Is the tour suitable for all?

Yes for most people. The day tour is easy-going with only light walking at lookouts and short trails, and families are welcome. Most lookouts need only a short, flat walk from the vehicle; some valley-floor boardwalks involve steps. Your guide can advise on the day. If you have specific mobility needs, contact us before booking.

  • What to wear?

As a general rule: a hat and sunscreen in summer, and comfortable footwear (closed-in shoes preferred). In winter bring a warm jumper or jacket and a beanie. Summer can also bring more rain, so pack a light raincoat or umbrella. Carry water and a camera.

  • How about the weather?

Tours usually run in most weather conditions. If the weather is unsafe, we will reschedule or offer a refund. Safety comes first. Mountain weather can change quickly, so check the forecast the day before and dress in layers.

  • Does Oz Trails cancel a tour?

If we cancel a tour more than 24 hours in advance, you will get a full refund or a new date option. Charters (private group tours) need to be cancelled a week prior to departure. If weather makes the day unsafe, we will reschedule or offer a refund.

  • How large is the group and what vehicles do we use?

Fixed itinerary tours are for up to 28 people in a deluxe air-conditioned mini coach. Our buses are accredited by Transport for NSW (and RMS). We keep groups small: no large “stadium” coaches on the shared day tour.

  • Can I stay overnight after the regular tour?

We can drop you at a place that does not take us away from our regular tour route. In the Blue Mountains we recommend overnight stays in Katoomba, Leura or Wentworth Falls. You may need to make your own way to accommodation. We can provide return transport the next day only if a seat is available; contact us on the morning of the return date to check.

  • What students or age discounts are accepted?

Child rates are available on our day tours for younger travellers (see the booking page for the current child age band and price). We do not currently publish a separate student or concession rate online. Contact us if you need to ask about student or other discounts.
